The Padilla Quandry
So what do we do with Padilla?
Vicente is a pitcher with a history of pitching his best in contract years. Except this ISN'T his contract year! The Rangers control him for 2009 as well. Clearly his efficient work last night shows that he is over his neck strain. And Padilla has basically been our staff Ace most of this season.
The real question is how aggressive the Rangers (i.e. JD and Nolan) want to be about trades. There is no need to trade Padilla; if we're not contending next year, he can be traded then. Or he can be moved this off-season.
The way I see it, the only way I trade him before the deadline is if someone blows me away with a very generous offer. Otherwise I keep him until next year and figure it out then.
What would YOU want to get in return if we were to trade him before the deadline?
